What brought you to JNSBL?

I started as a Heart Trainee with Workers Bank, which was sold to the parent company, Jamaica National Building Society. JNSBL was JN Micro Credit Ltd at the time. There I was a customer service representative after which I transitioned to Relief Field Officer then a Field Officer.

What has the 20-year journey been like?

The 20-year journey has been challenging, memorable and rewarding. I have assisted with training a number of employees, some of whom are still here. I am coming from a time where underwriting a loan was done manually from the loan disbursement, advice document, payment card etc. Every single document you can think of had to be hand written, and the loan amount started from $5,000. JNSBL has gone through a lot of changes from how loans are processed, the loan amounts offered, management and staff and the long hours spent at committee approval and delinquency meetings. There has been โ€˜the good, the bad and the uglyโ€™.

What do you love most about JNSBL?

JNBSL has helped a lot of persons throughout the years. Through JNSBL, businesses have grown from the back of a car to a well established location. Our clientele have been able to own their homes, motor vehicles and provide employment because of JNSBL. It is really touching when you have assisted a client, or at times taken chances with them, and in return they acknowledge that through you and JNSBL, their children can go to school or they were able to purchase a home and vehicle.

What would you love to see happen for JNSBL over the next 20 years?

In the next 20 years I would like to see JNSBL continue to touch the lives of business operators in Jamaica and be a household name on the lips of everyone.  I want JNSBL to continue to be one of the leading financial institution in Jamaica.
