Several members of the Jamaican-Canadian community, including world-renowned Olympian Ben Johnson, turned out for the JN Bank-sponsored, Fortis 5K Run/Walk.
The event, held at the Chinguacousy Park, in Brampton on Saturday, September 14, aimed to raise well-needed funds for students across the greater Toronto area and the Caribbean.
More than 10 schools and associations are slated to benefit from proceeds of the event.
These include:
- Kingston College Old Boys Association (Toronto Chapter)
- Douglas Williams Foundation; Excelsior School Alumni Association (ESSA) of Ontario
- Guyana United Social and Cultural Organisation
- Calabar Old Boys Association โ Canada Chapter, among others.
The funds will go towards: studentsโ dental care, scholarships to post-secondary institutions and nutrition programmes.
