The ATM is a quick and convenient way to access your bank accounts and perform various financial transactions. However, there are several mistakes you can make while using them.
Here are a few reminders to ensure a smooth process when next using an ATM.
Do
- Ensure your ATM card is correctly inserted. The card’s magnetic strip or chip should be properly aligned with the machine’s card reader.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. Pay attention to the instructions shown on the ATM screen. The screen usually guides you through the transaction process, including selecting the type of transaction, selecting the specific account and entering the desired amount.
- Take your ATM card, receipt and your cash when your transaction is completed. After completing your transaction, the machine will return your ATM card. Gently pull the card out of its slot when prompted. Check to see if you have retrieved everything from the ATM area before you leave. Take all receipts and statements with you when leaving the machine area.
Don’t
- Do not insert wet notes, stapled notes, rubber bands, coins or other foreign objects into the ATM. The machine will not work if these items are inserted.
