“It’s the most wonderful time of the yearrrr!” It’s Christmas! A little quicker than some of us expected, but it’s here nonetheless! This is one of the most exciting times of the year. The atmosphere is buzzing with togetherness, the gift of giving; cool Christmas breeze, and, of course, food!
Traditionally, most of us tend to give the restaurants a break on Christmas Day and opt to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals with our families’ juicy, glazed strips of ham topped with maraschino cherries, gungo peas and rice, chicken, goat and beef, all washed down with alcohol-infused sorrel. Oh! And the cake! How could I forget the fruity, moist Christmas cake!
However, what about those who are still interested in eating out this holiday season? This blog post is especially for you!
Here are a few places in Kingston and Ocho Rios where you can enjoy a good Christmas meal this festive season:
Kingston
Terra Nova All Suite Hotel- Terra Nova will commence their Christmas Buffet Lunch on December 10 until December 24 between the hours of noon and 3:00pm. The cost will be $3990 per person, inclusive of tax and service charge. Drinks are at an additional cost.
Christmas breakfast will be served on December 24 and 25 from 7am to 10:30 am and Christmas Brunch will be served on the 23rd and 25th from 10:30am to 4:00pm.
The hotel will also have a Christmas Dinner (on the Terrace) and a Christmas Buffet Dinner (by the poolside) on Christmas Day from 7:00pm to 10:30pm.
Blue Window Restaurant at the Pegasus Hotel- The Blue Window Restaurant is a prime food stop for lunch meetings, a meet up with friends or business dinners. Last Christmas, the restaurant served a buffet lunch from noon to 3:00pm with a wide menu that included fish, chicken, sushi; the much loved ackee and saltfish, corned pork, ham, curry goat, jerked chicken among other well-loved Jamaican dishes. Lunch was complete with a complimentary glass of sorrel and live entertainment.
For its Christmas buffet dinner last year from 6:00pm to 10:00 pm, the Blue Window served another wide selection of food. The menu included coconut-crusted fish, oven roasted beef, leg of lamb, Christmas pudding, sorrel cheese cake and lots more. This year’s menu is not yet available, however, you may download the menu here in a week or two.
Sora Japanese Sky Cuisine- Located at 9-11 Phoenix Avenue in St Andrew, Sora is known for serving up delectable sushi and other Japanese dishes in a tranquil setting. Stay tuned to their pages on social media for the Christmas menu. Regular dishes will also be available. See their daily menu here.
Ocho Rios
Oceans on the Ridge- Enjoy your Christmas dinner while you enjoy a panoramic view of Ocho Rios. This restaurant overlooks the pier and town of Ocho Rios. Some of the menu items include turkey and ham. Make your reservations today!
Evita’s Italian Restaurant- Similar to Oceans on the Ridge, Evita’s has a lovely view of the town of Ocho Rios. Last year, their Christmas dinner was a three course meal which included jerked spaghetti, fettuccine alfredo and salmon puttanesca, curried goat and fish. Hong Kong International Restaurant- Hong Kong is renowned for its excellent Chinese dishes. They have a wide menu that includes a variety of chicken, pork, shrimp, fish, beef, pork and vegetable dishes. Take the trek to Hong Kong this Christmas! Your tastebuds will thank you!
